Hey it so nice to actually win a bowl game after a 5 year drought.  I know this was only the Sun bowl and it was not a BCS bowl but still it is nice to get the W. I really liked Brent Venerables game plan for the defense.  The Sooners knew that Stanford was going to give it to their runner up heisman running back Toby Gerhart all day as their main offensive weapon. So the Sooners  went to the 5-2 run stopping defense they used to run in the 70's and 80's.  It was actually suggested by Keenan Clayton who played linebacker all year for the Sooners, he asked to go back to his original position of Strong Safety since injuries to Brian Jackso n and Proctor made the Sooner defensive back a very thin group.  Ronnel Lewis went to Strong side Linebacker with Ryan Reynolds and the Sooners Stopped Gerhart all day. Ryan Reynolds in his last game as a Sooner played great in shutting down Gerhart.  Don't get me wrong Gerhart had some good runs but Stanford virtually gave up trying to played run when Stanford's last chance offensive possesion in the 4th Quarter they had a 4th and 2 and they did not try to run the ball to Gerhart. On offense Landry Jones played a great game after an early interception that had me worried that he would go into a funk that helped us lose 5 games this year, but that was his only error of the day and he made a strong case for being the QB next year by throwing for 418 yards and three touchdowns. The real star of the day was Ryan Broyles who ran around and over Stanford's for 3 touchdowns.  Ryan was almost hurt on the punt reception where the Stanford defender ran over him before he could catch the ball, the referee said he was blocked into Ryan what a ripoff.    The only negative of the day was again the Sooner field goal kicking. Bob is going to have to find a kicker, I think should have been Stevens this year but he is sticking with Ohare who missed a 26 yarder that could have cost us the game. Just play the best kicker next year is all I ask. Well we say goodbye to some Sooners we will dearly miss next season.  The great Sam Bradford, Jermain Gresham, Gerald McCoy, Brian Jackson, Ryan Reynolds, Kennan Clayton, Trent Williams, Chris Brown,Brody Eldrige, Austin English and Brian Simmons. Still can't believe Sam Bradford is gone for good.  Good luck in the pros Sam.

I have enjoyed doing the videos with my friend Kevin and can't wait for next year for another national championship run for the Sooners.  Check this page in February for details on a top five Sooner Recruiting class.

GO SOONERS JUST WIN BABY
