Well the game started Okay, The Miami QB was intercepted on his first pass by the Sooner Defense and things were working out well for OU. The Sooners got the ball and quickly threw a 37 yard pass to Ryan Broyles in a scoring drive to make it 7-0. Unknown to most Sooner fans was that would be the last pass thrown to Ryan Broyles our best receiver. Our Best receiver was injured and joined our heisman Trophy QB and our All American Tight End on the sidelines for the rest of the game. Ryan Broyles will be out 4 to 6 weeks ut oh for Texas
I thought at first the OU could overcome it when the defense got another interception and the Miami QB struggled. Danger signs showed when Miami ran the ball and our defensive line struggled to tackle the runner. In the second half Miami found our weakness the over the middle short pass and we could not get to the QB to sack him. We did disrupt him some but it got less and less as the game wore on and the defense just could not stop them when it was 21-20 at the end of the game. We needed one more drive and did not get it.
I again give the Kevin Wilson play calling a D-. The last drive of the sooners, he decided just to run the ball and Miami soon caught on and eventually put 10 on the line to stop the OU running game. Did we pass then, NO of course not we went straight up the middle and eventually was forced into a field goal when a TD was needed for the win. Contrast the Miami offensive play caller when we set up for the run he passed, when we were ready for a pass he had Miami run the ball. Unlike Kevin Wilson who ran when they were ready for the run and hardly passed at all in the 4th Quarter.
National championship hopes BYE BYE. We can still pull off a miracle and win the Big 12. It is a long shot without any real quality receivers but who knows.
Baylor is next hopefully Sam will play some in so he will be ready for Texas.
Go Sooners.
